In the early days of this website and blog I guess I have to admit I am also a bit of a train nutter. This photo is from Quorn railway station in Leicestershire which is well worth a visit. You can drive a motorhome right into the station next to the track and see what is going on. The trains run in the summer quite frequently and you will not be disappointed!! I am about to chair a conference at the Leicester Tigers and I can absolutely guarantee a crafty visit to Quorn will be on the cards. Sad but true.

Was in Paris recently and had no problem driving my 6.00m motorhome although I know many owners are a tad hesitant about doing so. The only city I feel unable to drive in is Turin as that is simply far too scary!!

My photograph was taken in front of Notre Dame.

The news from New Zealand has rightly been all about the Christchurch earthquake disaster.

My partner and I were lucky over Christmas to be in New Zealand before the earthquake struck and, as Faye is herself a New Zealander, she knew the right spots to visit. Taupo is a great town in the North Island as we headed for Napier – a town which was itself destroyed by an earthquake in 1931 and was famously rebuilt in art deco style. A gem to visit and you can only hope eventually Christchurch will recover and prosper the way Napier has – but it takes years to do so of course.

I know that Aldeburgh has got into hot water recently with many motorhome owners because of the restrictions on casual camping but, as a place, I like it a lot. I have nothing against seaside resorts – love Walton for instance – but Aldeburgh is less touristic and more natural. Always worth a visit.
