Many motorhome owners were caravanners previously or have many friends who are caravanners. Because many of my friends are caravanners and I can see how ridiculous it is that caravans should be singled out from other trailers for an MOT I just signed the petition “Force EU to abandon MOT’s for Caravans.” and wanted to ask if you could add your name too.
This campaign means a lot to me and the more support we can get behind it, the better chance we have of succeeding. You can read more and sign the petition here:
I do hope you might be prepared to sign the petition and tell others about it.
Thank you!

The Caravan Club’s Black Knowl site near Brockenhurst in the New Forest is hugely popular.
It has 127 pitches – nearly all of them grass – and is set in the midst of the ancient royal hunting forest of William the Conqueror and which is now a National Park. It is particularly popular with walkers but also has Bucklers Hard, the National Motor Museum and Exbury Gardens and steam railway on the doorstep.

inThe Club’s new Stonehaven Queen Elizabeth site in Scotland to open three weeks ahead of plan. The Caravan Club’s new site, conveniently located just 15 miles south of Aberdeen, will be open for business on 14 June.
The site provides 77 pitches, equating to around 9,500 pitch nights to the end of 2013 with more being available when the site operates from March to November next year. Bookings for the site are already approaching 500, and with the most expensive pitch costing just £8.50 per night during August, it offers great value for money.
Stonehaven brings the number of Caravan Club sites in Scotland to 30 which is great news for members as the popularity of touring in Scotland is increasing. It’s also the second site The Club has opened in the last year following the successful opening of Strathclyde Country Park Caravan Club site in October 2012.
Attractions in the area include an Olympic-sized, heated, open air swimming pool and paddling pool, fed by seawater, as well as fishing villages, a variety of restaurants and a scenic beach walk to the cliffs of Dunnottar Castle is just two miles away. For those wishing to experience some city culture, the town’s railway is part of the mainline link to Edinburgh so there is plenty of opportunity to see the sights and enjoy what Scotland has to offer.
Director of Marketing for The Caravan Club, Tony Hall, says, “The Club is always looking to add new sites to the network, and due to the increasing popularity of Scotland as a destination for so many of our members, Stonehaven is a great location that can be enjoyed by those living in Scotland and for families wishing to explore north of the border.”

World’s most expensive motorhome: The £2m mega caravan made from solid gold with its own roof terrace. The space-age eleMMent Palazzo comes with an enormous master bedroom, 40-inch TV, fireplace and even a rooftop terrace.
It’s certainly not the average travelling home you’d find at the Caravan Club. This extravagant caravan, a 430ft solid gold monster, is the world’s most expensive motorhome – and it’ll set you back an eye-watering £2 million. And the luxury mod-cons don’t end there. The press of a button transforms the motorhome into a ‘Sky Lounge’ complete with pop-up cocktail bar, underfloor heating and marble lighting.

inStoke Bruerne is a small village a few miles west of the M1 near Northampton. Importantly is houses The Canal Museum.
It is a great spot to visit, immaculately maintained and all in all very interesting. During my visit I popped into The Navigation pub but there are other restaurants on site as well. And there were plenty of narrow boats going up and down the flight of locks as well.
Well worth a visit. The car park is modest for the size of the museum but I had no trouble parking my motorhome there.

Houghton Mill is one of my favourite sites. It is owned by the National Trust, managed by The Caravan Club, is on the banks of the River Great Ouse and is on the edge of the delightful village of Houghton. It has fifty four all grass pitches and is much loved in particular by walkers and dog owners – and by twitchers like me.(Is everyone enjoying BBC2’s Springwatch as much as I am?)

in Funny old world. The poor Spring has had some effect on my motorhome travel plans although this coming week hopefully signals a turn around. By contrast, the wet Spring and the recent warm spell have had a positive effect on my garden with everything thriving and looking the best for several years. Seems I can’t have it both ways.
